- My course structure is block module (one module running at a time over the course of 7 weeks, 4 modules per year) which is very efficient in my opinion: it allows me to focus on one subject/assignment at a time without confusing it with other modules which can often happen within film studies due to overlapping topics. we have a variety of assessment styles including presentations, exhibitions, essay, audio-visual essay, portfolio and short film. this makes the course interesting and gives me more experience for different types of exam/assessments as opposed to just completing essays. The course itself is very interesting: we do film studies and production, and even archiving. there is also a module where we get to plan and host our own local film festival. one of the modules entails film reviewing, and another is world cinema. also, there is an option in 3rd year to do EITHER a dissertation OR an independent film production (producing, directing, shooting and editing a short film) and the variety of modules available makes the course valuable and enjoyable.

- every single student at DMU is assigned a personal tutor for the entirety of the course and mine has been nothing short of a saint: constant reassurance and support, even unrelated to university, has helped me in so many ways. all lecturers also provide tutorials for students, keeping their office free for any discussion or concerns students wish to raise outside of teaching hours.

- town centre is very close by so usually i will go there with my friends after lectures for food and drink and shopping for a bit of a break. during the day you can do loads of shopping: fosse park and the highcross are nearby and both have a diverse range of shops. there is an avid nightlife in leicester, with a plethora of clubs in the town centre and surrounding area. thursday-saturday nights are the best times to go out clubbing as it is bustling with students.
