Our BSc health and care management degree programme aims to prepare you for a rewarding career in the health and social care workforce. Our goal is to develop a workforce that can meet strategic governmental objectives and is ready for a lifelong career in the health and care sector.

The Digital Health and Care discipline is evolving rapidly. We have updated our programme to include new elements of policy and skills to help you navigate this rapidly evolving environment. This ensures you are well-equipped to handle the latest challenges in health and social care.

As a student, you will earn a higher education qualification focusing on management within the health and social care sector. The course explores topics relevant to careers in the primary functions of management, such as healthcare management and leadership in healthcare.

We offer opportunities for both personal and academic development. Our programme values your prior relevant study or vocational experience, helping you build on what you already know. We aim to enhance your investigative, reflective analytical, and reasoning powers in context, giving you the tools to make ethical decisions and understand healthcare strategies.

Upon graduation, you will have the professional healthcare development needed to pursue various roles, including management roles in healthcare. The course covers modern healthcare topics such as health analytics and digital health leadership, preparing you for professional development in healthcare.

Our programme emphasises inclusive healthcare practice and adapting to diverse health contexts. You will learn about healthcare facilities management and healthcare delivery improvements. We also address evolving patient needs and the impact of new healthcare technologies on the industry.

Throughout your studies, you will engage with real-world healthcare case studies, this practical experience ensures you understand the patient impact of your work and can lead healthcare services transformation.

Year One

In your first year, you will build a solid foundation in health and care management. Key areas include understanding the counselling, communication and therapeutic relationship, exploring basic healthcare strategies, and learning about management, organisational behaviour and digital change, whilst also developing your critical thinking skills.
