A level
AAB in three academic subjects. Practical skills are a crucial part of science education and therefore there will be a requirement to pass the practical element of any science A Level taken. Where applicants are applying for science and related degrees, this is likely to be made explicit in the offers you will receive. Typical Contextual Offer: ABB from three academic subjects.
Each application is considered individually. Applicants should contact the Admissions Office to discuss their particular circumstances. We require a QAA-recognised Access to HE Diploma (a minimum of 60 credits overall with at least 45 at Level 3), with merit or distinction in a subject area relevant to the chosen course. The specific course requirements are normally: Pass 60 credits overall with 45 credits awarded at Level 3, 30 credits must be awarded at Distinction and 15 at Merit in an academic subject.
Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal
D3, D3, M1 We also consider applicants offering Pre-U Principal Subjects, or a mix of Pre-U and A-level subjects, in three distinct subjects. Candidates taking Pre-U principal subjects in conjunction with A-levels are expected to achieve a combination of D3/M1 in the Pre-U certificates and grade A/B at A-level in three distinct subjects. If you require further clarification about the acceptability of this qualification please contact us. The University welcomes and recognises the value of the Cambridge Pre-U Global Perspectives and Research (GPR) and the opportunities it provides for applicants to develop independent study and research skills. However, the qualification will not form part of your offer conditions.
The University recognises the benefits of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and the opportunities it provides for applicants to develop independent study and research skills. Although the Extended Project will not be included in the conditions of your offer, we strongly encourage you to provide information about the EPQ in your personal statement and at interview. We may be able to take your performance in the EPQ into account should places become available in August for applicants who narrowly miss the entry grades for their chosen course.
GCSE/National 4/National 5
Applicants must demonstrate a broad general education including acceptable levels of literacy and numeracy, equivalent to at least Grade C/4 in GCSE/iGCSE English Language, Mathematics and Science. GCSE/iGCSE English Literature will not be accepted in lieu of GCSE/iGCSE English Language. Please note that if you hold English as a second language iGCSE qualification, we may also require you to offer one of our acceptable equivalent English Language qualifications or achieve a higher grade in your iGCSE than the one stated above. Please contact us for clarification.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
35 points overall with 6,6,5 in three subjects at Higher Level. We will accept either Mathematics: analysis and approaches or Mathematics: applications and interpretation at SL or HL.
OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma
Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full Cambridge Level 3 Technical Diploma with grades DD/DM plus an additional level 3 qualification such as an A-level at grade B/A. However, this will be dependent on the modules studied.
OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate
Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full Cambridge Level 3 Technical Extended Certificate with grades D or M plus an additional level 3 qualification such as A-levels at grade AB/AA. However, this will be dependent on the modules studied.
OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma
We will consider the Cambridge Level 3 Technical Extended Diploma for entry to our programme, however this will be dependent on the modules studied within the Diploma. Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full Technical Extended Diploma with grades DDM.
OCR Cambridge Technical Foundation Diploma
Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full Cambridge Level 3 Technical Foundation Diploma with at least grades MM plus an additional level 3 qualification such as A-levels at grades AB. However, this will be dependent on the modules studied.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full National Diploma with grades DD/DM plus an additional level 3 qualification such as an A-level at grade B/A. However, this will be dependent on the modules studied.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate (first teaching from September 2016)
Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full National Extended Certificate with grades D or M plus an additional level 3 qualification such as A-levels at grade AB/AA. However this will be dependent on the modules studied.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

We normally require grades AABBB in Scottish Highers. AA in Scottish Advanced Highers plus at least BB in Higher Level. English Language and Mathematics not taken at Higher/Advanced Higher must have been achieved at SCQF level 5 (minimum National 5 grade C / Intermediate 2 grade C / Standard Grade Credit level grade 3). You'll explore how textiles and products are created, tested, sourced, manufactured, managed, marketed, promoted, and retailed.
This BSc course in Fashion Product Innovation offers you a unique chance to blend fashion business acumen with a deep understanding of industry challenges, while also mastering the latest in textile innovations and garment manufacturing techniques.
The curriculum covers the technical complexities of materials and manufacturing, with a focus on innovative textiles for sustainable product development and crafting technically advanced garments that meet both functional and fashionable requirements.
You’ll actively engage with the latest innovations, including fabric innovations, sustainable textile manufacturing approaches, body scanning, parametric pattern creation, smart wearables, and virtual fitting, thereby ensuring a holistic and forward-thinking experience.
**Course Content**
**Year 1**
The first year establishes the fundamentals in fashion business, textile science and technology through the core units in fashion buying, management, and marketing and the core textile science and garment technology units where students are introduced to fibres, materials, fabrics, and textile production processes.
**Year 2**
The second year explores specific aspects of management and marketing in depth with subjects such as Product development, Operations Management, Fashion Business and Analysis and Garment Production technology.
There are optional specialist subjects that students can choose from focusing a variety of areas such as circular design for products, technical textile structures, creative product development, digital branding, international business and sustainable approaches to fashion business and fashion promotions and the instore environment.
**Year 3**
The final year provides an opportunity to consolidate and extend specialist knowledge in areas of fashion textile and garment innovation studied in previous years. You may choose from a range of fashion business options within leadership, sustainability, and fashion business in the digital age. The final year projects allow you to specialise in an area of your choice, for example focusing on developing a broader corporate strategy for a fashion business, the development of a business start-up company or a project that combines business skills and innovative materials and technologies for emerging fashion and textiles markets.
**Careers**
Students graduate with experience and understanding of the science and technology behind the fabrics and garments they work with, as well as gaining critical and analytical understanding of the processes, procedures and aspects that make up the fashion industry. We equip our students with the skills to interpret the creative and technical elements that contribute to product development, as well as manage and market commercially viable fabrics and garments worldwide.
